Last night’s episode of Mad Men hit me harder than I thought it would—right now real life is being informed by the fictional world of Sterling Cooper. Must sort it all out before I can write another “Mad Men Sunday” posting.
But let me at least share with you Abraham Zapruder’s now-famous amateur video that still haunts a lot of us to this day. It lasts just a few seconds. And yes, you do get to see Kennedy’s head being blown away. And yes, it actually happened—only now you can simply turn it off.
And for good measure, here’s the video of Oswald’s murder.
More: The most insightful commentary I found for this episode wasn’t by Sepinwall, wasn’t by Maureen Ryan—it was from a blogger at Open Salon who writes under the name Silkstone. Couldn’t have said it better myself.
